Make & paint Rain Barrel Workshop
Make & Paint Rain Barrel Workshop Wilkin Soil and Water Conservation District Richland Soil Conservation District What is a rain barrel? A rain barrel is a sys- tem that collects and stores rainwater from our roof that would otherwise be lost to run- off. Our rain barrels are composed of 55 gallon re-purposed drums. They are inexpensive and easy to install next to any residential gutter downspout and offer many great benefits for you and the environment. Did you know that a rain barrel can save a homeowner an average of 1,200 gallons of wa- ter during peak summer months? A 1,200 sq. ft. roof yields an average of 700 gallons of water per inch of rain! The water can be recycled for gardens and other similar uses. During this two session workshop you will learn about water conservation and practical residential storm water solutions, given step by step instructions on the basics of how to construct, install and maintain a rain barrel. With your creativity, paint the barrel to fit into your landscape! The workshop includes a barrel, converter kit, and paint. 2 classes, $40.00, Tue.
